Gymnastics has a historical narrative that success can only be gained as a teenager, and your career is ‘over’ before you make your twenties. Nowadays that narrative is pretty well understood as false, but I wanted to spotlight the athletes who are not only competing in their twenties and above, but actually winning medals.
I’m compiling a database listing the age of Olympic or World Championship medallists – they will be updated regularly as I am able to add more information from historical meets. I’m currently working on a women’s database, but will also be working on one for the men.
